SLS

Squadron Leadership School (SLS) is designed to introduce new CAP members to squadron-level operations. It also provides an in-depth look at missions and mission support.

To participate in an SLS you must meet the following criteria:

  • Have obtained Level 1
  • Have completed Cadet Protection
  • Be enrolled in a Specialty Track

CLC

Corprate Learning Course (CLC) discusses the relationship the CAP squadron has with the next major echelon of command -- the wing. Specifically, CLC discusses how wing-level operations help to accomplish CAP's three missions of aerospace education, emergency services, and cadet programs. It describes the working relationships wing staff officers have with each other, and their squadron level counterparts.

To participate in an CLC you must meet the following criteria:

  • Have obtained Level 1
  • Have completed Cadet Protection
  • Be enrolled in a Specialty Track
  • Have at least a Technician rating in a Specialty Track
  • Have taken Squadron Leadership School (SLS)

Personnel

Promotions

Criteria for 2nd Lt.

  • Have been a SM for at least 6 months
  • Have completed Level 1
  • Have completed Cadet Protection

Criteria for 1st Lt.

  • Have been a 2nd Lt. for at least 1 year
  • Have completed Level 1
  • Have completed Cadet Protection
  • Be enrolled in a Specialty Track

Criteria for Capt.

  • Have been a 1st Lt. for at least 1 year and 6 months
  • Have completed Level 2
  • Have completed Cadet Protection
  • Be enrolled in a Specialty Track
  • Have at least a Technician rating in a Specialty Track

Criteria for Maj.

  • Have been a Capt. for at least 3 years
  • Have completed Level 3
  • Have completed Cadet Protection
  • Have held a Command or Staff position for one year
  • Have attended two conferences (National, Regional, or Wing)
  • Be enrolled in a Specialty Track
  • Have at least a Senior rating in a Specialty Track

Criteria for Lt. Col.

  • Have been a Maj. for at least 4 years
  • Have completed Level 4
  • Have completed Cadet Protection
  • Have held a Command or Staff position for two years
  • Have been a staff member for a conference (National, Regional, or Wing), or have been a staff member or presenter at an SLS, CLC, or UCC
  • Have made a CAP-related presentation to a Non-CAP group, or have earned the Yeager Award
  • Be enrolled in a Specialty Track
  • Have at least a Master rating in a Specialty Track
